Burning Desire

In the year 2009 at a public thoroughfare in the city of Buenos Aires, the artist summoned passers by to burn his works in a portable incinerator. This first action became a corollary to the bigger action which later becomes the project Burning Desire.

In September of 2015, Grant displays Burning Desire within the framework of the International Urban Intervention Project 100 en un día, which takes place each year in the city of Santiago, Chile.  Grant ironically chose the sidewalk in front of the Fire Station Number 1, to set up his public participation performance.  Motivated by a brief textual description of the action, passers-by were invited to participate in Burning Desire:
 “This intervention invites people to freely make a painting with provided materials.  Then the painting would be suspended above a burning candle and back lit while also slowly being burned.  The idea of the action is that each person who participates creates a work and then releases it to the flame.”

Hacia el año 2009 en la vía pública de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires el artista invocaba a los transeúntes a quemar sus obras en un incinerador portátil. Como corolario de esa primera obra de acción Grant re-configurará Burnig Desire.

Esta vez la acción se desarrollará en el marco del proyecto internacional de intervención urbana 100 en un día, en la Ciudad de Santiago de Chile, específicamente frente al Cuartel de Bomberos Número 1, durante el mes de Septiembre del año 2015.

En esta ocasión a partir de una breve descripción textual de la acción los transeúntes fueron invitados a participar en Burning Desire:

“La intervención invita a las personas a realizar un dibujo libre en el tiempo que quiera. Luego se suspenderá el dibujo sobre la llama de una vela para que lentamente se queme el dibujo.
La idea de la acción es que cada persona que participe cree una obra y después la libere al fuego.”
